Customer Interview No. 2
This round of interviewing I tried my best to add commentary to the conversation. Make it a little less formal and that might help people open up more with sharing their thoughts. Last time I talked to customers who did not have much input. This time when interviewing, instead of asking basic yes or no questions, I prepared questions that would require further explanation.
I realized that my idea of making a channel or a club for students who do not know how to cook already exists. Nothing was special. I tweaked my idea and came up with a new product. My idea is The Food Pack, my inspiration came from brownie mixes and any preassembled boxes that are easy to use and contain a majority of the ingredients necessary. Based off of responses from customers they would rather buy a package that contains all the ingredients they would need than go and speed more money on items they probably wouldn't use or hardly use in the future.
Some tips on interviewing customers:
1. Be kind and don't give up!
2. Be prepared if customer does not agree with your idea (facial expressions).
3. Do not use filler words such as "like" or "um" (I am guilty of this).
This was my favorite idea I have seen so far. I have seen some similar things (not the same idea) and the markup is usually REALLY high, so if you could find a way to keep the savings of the customer in mind, and make it cheaper than eating out, that would be a good idea. Because it isn't prepared for you... I liked the way some of the people you interviewed got really excited about your idea. it made me get excited too.
ReplyDeleteHi Bridget! I really liked your idea. As a college student who lives off of 90 second bag rice and anything else I can just stick in a microwave, I really appreciate your initiative. I liked that you were able to stick to the same questions throughout all of the interviews. I think you handled talking to new people really well. I could tell that some seemed nervous to be interviewed, but I don't think you were too aggressive or anything.

Bridget, I think this is a really great idea for college students especially because we are always on the go and never take the time to prepare good meals for ourselves. Our first instinct is to always just grab food on the way to campus, which leads to spending more money and eating unhealthy. I think if food brands had all the ingredients and measurements set in packages for us we would definitely cook more often. I believe there is already a system like this called blue apron, maybe something you can look into and see if there are any tweaks that could be made. ReplyDeleteHey, Bridget! I think the new take on your idea is awesome. It actually addressed one of the items on my Bug List. I myself don't cook as much as I'd like to because it's such a hassle to go and buy a bunch of ingredients, especially when I have to buy a whole package of something when the recipe only calls for a tiny amount. I like how you added commentary to get your customers to open up more and provide more useful and insightful feedback. I thought it was cool how you pointed out that this wouldn't only be a more convenient and less wasteful way of buying groceries, but that it'll also teach people how to cook a wider variety of meals they may not have otherwise tried.
ReplyDeleteHi Bridget, good job on your interviews! I like how I can see that you definitely put in effort to improve your opportunity since the first interview experience. I'm also a fan of your cooking club idea, and your food pack idea is even better, and shows evidence that you did research into your first idea to determine that it already exists. Unfortunately, I missed this assignment or I'd post a link to my own blog post. However, I can still provide a link to my first blog post about interviewing customers.
