Interviewing Customers No. 3

Interviewing Customers No. 3

This week of interviewing was by far the most difficult.  I struggled with trying to find out more questions to ask people that I haven't already asked.  This time around I decided to draw out my idea of a product and present the rough draft of The Food Pack to customers.  I asked them one question that could have multiple answers.  At least that's what I thought.  I think my question was worded wrong and it might have confused people.

Question: If you were to buy The Food Pack what would you expect from it?

I provided them an example of what I would want, but some of them used my response for their answer. However in one of my interviews I received feedback on the importance of the packaging design and how it contributes to attracting consumers.  This is what I mostly took away from this interviewing experience, that my package needs to have a more appealing design.

(in one of the interviews there were two people, but they did not want to be in frame)

Idea Napkin No. 1

Idea Napkin No. 1

Below are my responses...

Overall I believe most of my responses coincide with one another except for the first one.
My responses for "Who am I" I wrote down what is really close to my heart and that I am passionate about.  I am proud of my German - Irish Heritage, I love photography, and my passions in life include animals and the Agriculture Industry.
When it comes to how I "see this business playing a role" in my life, I did not have a response.  I never really pictured actually following through with the development of my product.  I just looked at it as an assignment.  Perhaps it's because I'm not the biggest fan of cooking, but I would want to buy this product.  I can see this in grocery stores but I need to spend more time reflecting and developing my product.  Perhaps take a creative approach?
This happened to me last summer when I had to develop an innovative desk.  I've never had a passion for furniture and design.  However, when I started drawing out my ideas the more I became excited about developing my product. I need to use this approach with The Food Pack.

Week 5 Reading Reflection

Week 5 Reading Reflection

1. One thing that surprised me the most is how expensive it is to get something trademarked.  For some reason I always thought that someone reviews a symbol or logo to make sure it hasn't been used.  Turns out there's a whole lot more that goes into it.
2. I don't really understand S corporations or why business owners would want this type of partnership?
3. Are patent attorneys in demand today?  What kind of partnership would you want the most with a new business?
4. I wouldn't say I disagree but I do not 100% believe he was right when he said that when your in partnership in a business you struggle with obtaining capital.  I would think that the more professionals that you are partnered with the better chance you will have of obtaining investors and expanding your business.
