Interviewing Customers No. 3
This week of interviewing was by far the most difficult. I struggled with trying to find out more questions to ask people that I haven't already asked. This time around I decided to draw out my idea of a product and present the rough draft of The Food Pack to customers. I asked them one question that could have multiple answers. At least that's what I thought. I think my question was worded wrong and it might have confused people.
Question: If you were to buy The Food Pack what would you expect from it?
I provided them an example of what I would want, but some of them used my response for their answer. However in one of my interviews I received feedback on the importance of the packaging design and how it contributes to attracting consumers. This is what I mostly took away from this interviewing experience, that my package needs to have a more appealing design.
(in one of the interviews there were two people, but they did not want to be in frame)
Regarding the importance of packaging and design, how significant a role this plays in how the food will taste cannot be stressed enough. Psychological studies have shown that a lot of how food tastes to the consumer is based on how it is presented. For example, the same desert served on round plates was perceived as sweeter tasting than when it was served on square plates. To combine responses from your first and last interviewees, branding the food as healthier would help attract customers such as the last girl, and would lead them to believe in the health benefits of the food.
ReplyDeletePackaging is definitely a major role in the way how food tastes. The presentation plays a very important role in the consumer's mind before eating the food. It can serve as an advantage to help promote the product and increase profit as well. It definitely is a great idea and can go really far in that area of business.
